MRI-SPECT insert system with Hybrid Semiconductor detectors Timepix for an experimental tomograph Bruker 47/20

This work presents MRI-SPECT insert system designed for a combination of anatomical (MRI) and functional (SPECT) imaging (Multimodal Imaging) in experimental tomograph Bruker with magnetic induction of 4.7 Tesla. Insert system includes SPECT setup with CdTe detectors, MRI compatible tungsten collimators and radiofrequency (RF) coil placed in the middle of the whole system. To the RF coil is inserted measuring object - currently the high proton-density (PD) phantom (1H) with embedded radioisotopic gamma source (57Co), in the future it will be a mouse. Reading of SPECT is ensured by 1.5 m cables conducted outside the tomograph to the readout electronics (FitPix USB 1.0) due to the suppression of the effects of high magnetic field on the functionality of both methods. Fused image (MRI+SPECT) is possible to get by consecutive measurements of MRI and SPECT.
