Abstract
The new type of Medipix devices, Timepix, provides a set of unique properties for precise heavy charged particle spectroscopy. In addition to single-quantum counting and high position sensitivity this device provides the possibility to measure detection times and/or energy deposition in each individual pixel. We exploit these position–, energy– and time–sensitive spectrometric properties for precise fission fragment spectroscopy the results of which will be presented in this work. Together with an integrated USB–based readout interface and devoted control and data acquisition software package Pixelman, the TimePix/USB system stands as an active and portable radiation camera operating in single–quantum and on–line tracking mode.
