Development and use of detection tests for experimental studies of detectors and detector structures

The development of tests using
lasers has been motivated by several reasons:
- Allow precise study of the properties
detection of structures such as:
- Charge collection efficiency (CCE)
- Search non-sensitive regions of detection structures.
- Variability of laser energy and its stability.
- Variability and definiteness tested area detector.
- Thanks to its properties it is able to fully subrogate sources of ionizing radiation, it is leading to increased safety in these experiments.
The whole measuring apparatus consists of several main parts:
- Laser – infrared (660 nm) and red (1060 nm), which has
identical effects on the detector as a beta or alpha radiation.
- Pulse generator – capable of generating very short pulses (order of nanoseconds), used to run laser and synchronized oscilloscope.
- Current broadband amplifiers – amplify the signal going from tested detectors into a digital oscilloscope.
- Digital oscilloscope - able to record, process and evaluate all the measured data.
Currently we are using laser to study radiation hardness of 3D detectors.
