From Dark-Sectors to the Axion-Neutrino Connection

Henrique Brito Câmara

Departamento de Física and CFTP Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa

Abstrakt: In this seminar I will discuss how dark-sectors and the axion-neutrino connection can be the key in addressing the open problems in particle and astroparticle physics.
In the first part of the talk I will focus on the dark linear seesaw (Phys.Lett.B 843 (2023) 138012). We propose a novel neutrino mass generation framework where a dark sector, containing viable WIMP dark matter candidates, generates small lepton number violating parameters triggering the low-scale linear seesaw mechanism. We study the phenomenology regarding scalar dark matter and charged-lepton flavor-violation.
The second half of the presentation is about axion frameworks with color-mediated neutrino masses (Phys.Rev.Lett. 132 (2024) 5, 051801 and arXiV: 2 501.13156 [hep-ph]). We propose a KSVZ-type axion framework in which vector-like quarks and colored scalars generate Majorana and Dirac neutrino masses radiatively. The axion also accounts for the observed cosmological dark matter. The framework predicts distinct axion-to-photon couplings, testable through haloscope and helioscope experiments, as well as potentially significant flavor-violating quark-axion interactions.

Seminář se koná v úterý 11. března ve 14:00
